Saumitra Jha is Associate Professor of Political Economy at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Senior Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, Faculty Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences, and convenor of the Stanford Conflict and Polarization Lab. He examines how institutional design, financial systems, and organizations can manage political conflict and foster cooperation across social divides. His research spans seventeenth-century England, early United States, Meiji Japan, and modern contexts.
